5 years explores the 21st century identity crisis and the role of the portrait in a society in which holds a prestigious position. People no longer know how to relate to themselves in the absence of their reflections. Images are continuously remind them of time's modifying effects on their bodies.
The five selected images share one common link: they were taken between 2006 and 2011, while I attended undergraduate school as a Fine Arts major. ID card pictures, symbol of universal identification, display the changes that have taken place over the years; "changes" not only the in the aesthetic sense but in an emotional and physiological way too.
It's about recording a process of introspection and self-knowledge that combines each image of the piece to create the five phases of grief: denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
